Evaluation & Treatment
Persistent, severe or unexplained pain should be evaluated rather than self-diagnosed. The pattern of pain and associated symptoms helps guide testing.
When to seek medical assessment
- Severe or rapidly worsening pain
- Pain with fever, repeated vomiting or jaundice
- Pain with bleeding, fainting or marked abdominal swelling
